B&M’s Lynn Burgoine to Trek Peru in aid of Cancer Research UK.03/11/2006 |
||
Lynn Burgoine, a Barnes and Mullins employee since 1989 and currently Purchasing and Imports Manager, is in training for her Trek across the Peruvian Andes in aid of Cancer Research UK. If you would like to help the fight against Cancer and aid Lynn in her challenge, please donate anything you can at:
www.bmycharity.com/v2/lynnburgoine
or send payments to Lynn Burgoine at B&M. Cheques made payable to Cancer Research UK. The Trek which takes place 13 – 14th May 2007, will commence at Cusco, at the entrance to the Andes Sacred Valley. Over the following 10 days, Lynn will climb for 6 to 10 hours a day at altitudes up to 4400Metres, ending the journey at the awe-inspiring Inca city at Machu Pichu. In order to qualify to take part in this great challenge, not only does Lynn need to raise £4000 in donations prior to her departure in May, but she must adhere to a strict six month physical training regime. She has even stopped smoking! Many local Shropshire businesses have been very generous with their donations and offers of support. Even food giant Nestle offered their support and donations. “I started my involvement during April this year when a number of my friends and colleagues joined me for the national ‘Race for Life’ in aid of Breast Cancer. That was a fabulous occasion that raised a good sum for a great cause, but this latest challenge is another wonderful - and somewhat more personally challenging - opportunity for me to help advance the fight against cancer, something that is very close to my heart. All too recently, a close friend died of Breast Cancer aged only 33. She left 3 young children. In fact, only a day after I decided to take on this challenge, another close friend was diagnosed with cancer, and is now undergoing treatment“. Worryingly, the statistics state that 1 in 3 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime, and 1 in 4 will die from it. However, in the last 10 years, thanks to the funds donated to cancer charities, overall cancer mortality rates have dropped by 12% and 70% of children diagnosed with cancer now survive 5 years or more. |

Wittner have introduced a fresh batch of colours to their Taktell 'Piccolo' metronome range. The 'Neon' range consists of: Magic Violet, Lilac Violet, Cerise Pink, Turquoise, Neon Green and Orange. All the while, brightening up your practice room.
In 1895, Gustav Wittner founded a precision mechanical factory for the production of Metronomes, which his son Rudolf Wittner expanded one by one to a medium-sized industrial plant. Soon new standards were established. Besides the Maelzel Metronomes, Wittner started producing the "TAKTELL". These Metronomes under the registered trademark "TAKTELL" became such a term of quality, that among the experts of many countries the word "Metronome" was replaced by the word "TAKTELL". Thanks to experience and tradition, newest technologies and modern production methods, Wittner became the manufacturer with the widest range of Metronomes in the world. Besides Metronomes Wittner manufactures other Musical Accessories (Tuning Forks, String Accessory, Stands etc.) as well as articles for storage and maintenance of Sound- and Data mediums. Since 1975, the third generation is running the company. The Wittner GmbH & Co. KG is worldwide known for the reliability and quality of its products. |
